Why Facebook still stubbornly to launch a smartphone?
by Xavier Mory (21 Feb 2012)
Facebook is preparing to launch smartphone "Buffy", realized with HTC, according to market sources, however, it seems that no one expected. According to a recent survey, an Amazon smartphone would be more appreciated than a Facebook smartphone.
Thus, 42% of the total of 875 respondents said they were interested or very interested in a possible launch of an Amazon phone, while only 12% of them have said the same interest for a possible launch of a Facebook smartphone according to HuffingtonPost.com.
So, is the perfect time for Amazon, which would prepare also a smartphone.
Furthermore, although consumer preferences are evident when it comes to Amazon in comparison with Facebook, it is possible that none of smartphones enjoy much success, given that the market is already saturated with models.
On the other hand, Amazon is not the first attempt on the hardware market. Kindle Fire, 7-inch tablet, worth $ 200, launched in autumn by the company has enjoyed great success.
Amazon Kindle Fire tablet was called the largest competitor of iPad, and Jordan Rohan, an analyst at Stifel Nicolaus, estimates the number of tablets sold by Amazon in the fourth quarter of 2011 was 6,000,000 units, up with one million from the figure originally suggested.
Facebook came out wrinkled and in another survey conducted by Mashable.com, whose results are similar. 80% of respondents do not want a Facebook smartphone, while only 7.8% take an account such acquisition.
